Dream Rivalry:

WWE vs AEW, and yet hugs for everyone!! The Cali-born side ponytail-styling NXT alumni “hugger” who comes out with inflatable skydancers during her entrance, meets the ever-smiling energetic AEW wrestler from Chicago! How would the story play out, who would benefit from such comparing encounter? This would be a dream match of the NXT-AEW women’s revolution era.

Timeline:

Before Wrestling Bayley played as a captain of her High School’s basketball team. Kylie Rae played softball in High School, and before becoming a full-time professional wrestler, Kylie Rae also worked as a stuntwoman, performing stunts for the film Divergent and the TV series Shameless.

2008-2012: Davina Rose Bayley had been attending shows by Big Time Wrestling, a professional wrestling promotion in Northern California, since she was 11. In 2008, she started her professional wrestling career at the age of 18, by attending Big Time Wrestling’s training classes by her head trainer Jason Styles. She had her first match in September 2008 under the ring name Davina Rose. Rose wrestled for Big Time Wrestling from 2008 to 2012. Between 2011 to 2012, Rose branched out to wrestle for other promotions such as NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, Pro Wrestling Destination and Shine Wrestling. By December 2012, it was reported that she had signed with WWE.

2013-2016: NXT In January 2013, Bayley made her debut for WWE’s developmental territory NXT at a live event, wrestling under a mask. She then adopted the ring name Bayley and made her NXT television debut in a loss to Paige. Two months later, Bayley adopted a new character of a doe-eyed fangirl. She went on to face Alicia Fox, AJ Lee, Charlotte, Aksana, The BFFs—Beautiful, Fierce Females (Sasha Banks and Summer Rae), Dana Brooke and Becky Lynch.
In March 2015, Bayley began a feud with Emma after she criticized Bayley for her niceness and claimed that it had prevented her from winning the NXT Women’s Championship. After a short hiatus, Bayley returned from a broken hand injury, on the July 22 episode, where she defeated Emma and stated she had her sights set on the NXT Women’s Championship. Bayley defeated Becky Lynch to become the new number one contender and at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, Bayley won the NXT Women’s Championship for the first time. Throughout her championship reign, Bayley went on to fend off title contenders such as Alexa Bliss, Eva Marie, Nia Jax and Carmella. Bayley would go on to defend her 223 day Champion reign against Asuka at NXT TakeOver: Dallas.

2016: ROW vs RAW At a March 19, 2016 TV taping, Kylie Rae made her professional wrestling debut at Reality of Wrestling (Booker T‘s promotion), defeating Ivory Robin to win the ROW Diamonds Championship. She feuded with the likes of Jada Keys, Kiera Hogan, and Miranda. In that same year, Rae wrestled in other promotions including Texas Wrestling Entertainment, House Of Hardcore, GALLI Lucha Libre and WildKat Pro Wrestling.
Meanwhile, at WWE Battleground, Bayley made her main roster and pay-per-view debut in a one-off appearance as Sasha Banks’ mystery tag team partner. They became known as “The Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection“.

2018: WWE PC Kylie Rae received a tryout with WWE in February 2018, and was going to compete in the Mae Young Classic before an injury. Kylie Rae went on to wrestle top indie wrestlers for various promotion such as Freelance Wrestling, Zelo Pro Wrestling, SHIMMER Women Athletes, RISE, Capital Wrestling Alliance and AAW: Professional Wrestling Redefined.

2019: SD! vs AEW On April 16, Bayley was drafted to SmackDown, disbanding her team with Sasha Banks. At Money in the Bank, Bayley won the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, granting her a women’s championship match at any time of her choosing. Later that night, Bayley cashed-in her contract and won the SmackDown Women’s Championship for the first time. The win made her the first WWE Women’s Grand Slam winner in WWE history.
Meanwhile, Kylie Rae signed with All Elite Wrestling. This marked Rae’s first official signing with a major promotion since beginning her career in professional wrestling. Rae made her debut on May 25 during the Double Or Nothing event, competing in a four-way match against Britt Baker, Awesome Kong and Nyla Rose.

Bayley has been a loyal NXT home-grown talent for the WWE, while Kylie has received the opportunity to present herself at the top of the industry with AEW. Niether are likely to leave to the rival promotion unless things change! In this industry, you never know.
